Barbecued Chuck Roast

Seared chuck roast is combined with sauteed onions and garlic, and homemade barbecue sauce. Chuck roast is slow cooked. Perfect and tender chuck roast can be served as main dish or cut thin, and used in barbecued sandwiches.
Ingredients -
4 pounds Chuck Roast
2 tablespoons Shortening
1 cup sliced Onions
2 cloves Minced Garlic
1/2 cup Ketchup
1/2 cup Water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 cup Red Wine Vinegar
1 teaspoon Rosemary
1 teaspoon Salt
 
Preparation:

1. Add shortening to heavy skillet and heat over medium high heat.

2. Brown chuck roast on all sides.

3. Add onion and garlic, saute until onion is tender.

4. Reduce heat to low.

5. In a small bowl combine ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, rosemary and salt

6. Pour barbecue sauce over chuck roast.

7. Cover skillet and cook 2-1/2 hours.
