Barbecue Spareribs With BBQ Sauce

Beef or pork ribs simmer in a stockpot for an hour to tenderize, brushed with homemade barbecue sauce and finished on the grill. Barbecue sauce features orange juice, chile sauce and vinegar for wonderful tangy flavor.
Ingredients -
1 Whole Rack Spareribs
1 large Onion, cut in chunks
1 teaspoon each Salt and Pepper

BBQ Sauce:
2 teaspoons Olive Oil
1 tablespoon minced Garlic
3/4 cup each Ketchup and Chile Sauce
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Orange Juice
1/4 cup Cider Vinegar
2 tsp grated Orange Peel

 
Preparation:

1. Add spareribs and onions to stockpot. Cover with water. Bring to a boil.

2. Add salt and pepper.

3. Cover stockpot, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.

Sauce:
1. Add oil to small saucepan. Heat over medium heat. Saute garlic until tender. Add chile sauce, brown sugar, orange juice, and cider vinegar.

2. Bring to a boil. Cover partially, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.

3. Remove from heat and cool.

4. Brush ribs with sauce.

Grilling:
1. Preheat grill to medium.

2. Grill ribs over direct heat 15 minutes.

3. Baste ribs every few minutes; turn ribs once or twice during cooking.

4. Cut rack into 4 portions.

Certainly you could substitute your favorite store bought BBQ sauce or homemade favorite for the BBQ sauce called for in this recipe.
